Kalle Cropped with Eyelet Cotton Miriam

A Kalle Shirt like no other. I am a sucker for texture and color, so when this fabric hit the Mimi Shop in April 2024 inspiration struck me.

I sewed the cropped version of the Kalle Shirt which I can wear buttoned up as a shirt or unbuttoned as a little jacket over dresses.

Here are some things I did to make this a success:

• I did not use interfacing in the bottom facing at the hem as it would have shown through the eyelet of the fabric.
• I opted for a cotton fabric in the collar to give it enough structure to stand up, and of course, I chose a fun print for that ;) 
• The bottom part of my top collar is also a plain cotton fabric which I matched to the eyelet fabric.
• To sew the buttonholes I laid a piece of rinse away embroidery stabilizer on the placket so the machine had an even surface to work with, it easily dissolves in water after.
