Santa Fe Top Butterfly with Creamsicle Lace Miriam

Santa Fe Top with Lace Detail
Made by Miriam Roemer-Arifovic May 2024

The Santa Fe Top has been a pattern I make for myself every year. My favorite part about it is the triangular panels which meet mid torso on the side creating a really special silhouette.
The pattern does not specifically call for lace, but I love adding lace detail to all my Santa Fe Tops. If you are using lace trim you will need 2m to create this look.
The lace you choose for this pattern has to be at least 15cm wide so the pattern piece can fit on it. The lace I used had a total width of 20cm giving me enough space to cut my pattern pieces out of the center part and use the scalloped edges for binding my armholes. You can also use elastic bias tape, fold-over elastic, or clear elastic to finish your edges, each will create a different look.
The shoulder seams end up being all made of lace so I like to add clear elastic into the seam to stabilize. For the front and back panels, a drapey knit is best to get a nice and flowy look.
Any Viscose Jersey, Bamboo Jersey, and Modal Jersey will work. I chose to do a rolled hem finish on my serger for this version but a folded hemline is also very pretty.
